Tsuiblεoo Collection

Tsuiblεoo Collection

BEHIND THE SCENES

In June last year, Aketekete’s studio moved from Elmina to the modern, eclectic, and creative city of Accra. The choice was made for a number of reasons, but mostly to improve production and grow the business. A new journey awaited us in Accra, even though we will always have a special place in our hearts for the coastal community of Elmina, where it all began.

Following this journey, our team set up an office in an apartment in a Ga Community neighborhood adjacent to Teshie. A little apartment that we mostly call our office but also gives us an opportunity to develop ideas, improvise, and be creative.

During the first months, we discovered more about the Ga Community, its significance, history, and culture. And we felt like we were home.

Tsuiblεoo Collection

/tsuiblεoo/ is a word in Ga that translates to calm heart

Inspired by Accra, the city that hums with a desire for freedom and its contagious colors that flood the streets. The little details of everyday life, childhood memories, the meaning of words and symbols in its culture and heritage, the texture of the food, the smells of life. The long nights, the short but intense days. The sun, the sea, the fish. Accra captures your heart forever.

Discover the collection

Our new collection pays tribute to the beauty of Ghana as its own resilient people. Where we learn, grow, fail, and evolve. Aketekete’s journey sees its reflections in the country and is inspired by it. Passing through difficult moments, changing working strategies, and looking for joy in each little win.

Prior to the collection's launch, our design team expanded from one to three persons in a hectic period of time. Keeping our core values in consideration, we had the opportunity to connect with more artisans, always offering long-term and honest partnerships. And equally important, taking progressive measures to ensure that we can maintain the priority of working responsibly for our environment, our people, and our health.

The Tsuiblεoo Collection featured a mix of Ghanaian and glass beads sourced locally from markets or produced in collaboration with artisans. Our handcrafted and handpainted recycled glass beads are carefully chosen to reflect the distinctiveness of Ghanaian culture and tradition. They are inspired by our daily lives in Accra, small encounters, and people we cherish as a family. Details of gold-plated brass infuse a higher value into the product and accentuate the unique irregularities of each glass bead.

Aketekete's interest in crafting heirloom pieces is also shown in the collection. A collection featuring bold and unique pieces while introducing new hues and shades to our best-selling line. A collection to treasure as a rich yet enjoyable trip. An heirloom for everyday adventures.
